Hope Tech 4 EVO GR4 – The ultimate brake for e-bikes and aggressive riding
The Hope Tech 4 EVO GR4 is a four-piston disc brake designed for the most demanding disciplines: enduro, DH, and EMTB. It pushes the limits by combining maximum power, precise control, and absolute reliability in all conditions. Its high-end design and new optimizations make the GR4 the benchmark for riders who demand the best.
The master cylinder features a redesigned cam mechanism, reducing the lever's free stroke while preserving the legendary progressiveness of Hope brakes. The result: a firmer bite point, followed by a smooth, perfectly controlled power increase for safe and modulated braking on the steepest descents. The kinematics are supported by a main pivot on bearings and additional guide bushings, ensuring smooth piston movement throughout the stroke.
Three lever options are available (Standard, Power, Control) to match your riding style: Standard (the default option fitted on Tech 4 Evo brakes) for optimal balance, Power for maximum mechanical leverage, and Control for a closer-to-bar feel. All levers feature a new textured surface for better grip and comfort and allow independent adjustment of reach and bite point.
The one-piece machined caliper combines increased stiffness and reduced weight, housing four hybrid pistons for consistent power transfer and optimized heat management. Compared to the Tech 4 V4, the GR4 has larger pistons, increasing braking ratio by around 6%, delivering extreme power while retaining the Hope signature: modulation and reliability. The bleed system has been simplified with a new dedicated port, ensuring quick and effective maintenance while retaining full “open system” bleed capability.
